This winter, Jasper celebrated its 25th annual Jasper in January festival, and I was lucky enough to have attended one of the weekends. Immersion into Jasper life consisted of a chili cookoff and night out on the town. Various chili recipes were cooked by firemen, zombies and mythical winter creatures, all to be judged and prized. Saturday night held in store a night-time street party, with snow syrup, s'mores and marshmallow roasting in the streets. A torchlight procession lead to the park for fireworks, and the locals partied the night away. The rest of the weekend meant stops at the #myjasper ice lounge, Jasper Brewing Company, and Jasper's other shops and restaurants. During the weekend I also went dogsledding, on a night time ice canyon walk, stargazing and skiing. Jasper is awesome in January.
