During the summer time Helsinki is at its best and a city worth discovering, and good way to get to know it even better is to take a tour that gives you insight into the food culture and design world of the city. This past June I participated in a food tour arranged and led by Heather.
We started with Stockmann’s Herkku, the best stocked gourmet supermarket in Helsinki. You could easily spend a few hours there….
On our way to different places we passed many beautiful buildings of Helsinki, built in the neoclassical style, so during the tour we had a good look at the beautiful architecture of the city as well. Central Helsinki is full of old and beautiful buildings.
We visited the Old Market Hall, just next to the main market square of Helsinki, where we tasted some delicious cheese from Tuula’s cheese shop.
During Heather’s tour you also get a good glimpse at the famous Finnish design,in the flagship store of Iittala.
Our 4½ hour tour was finished in Hymy Raw cafe, with good coffee and a piece of trendy raw cake.
