Don’t forget the intiniate relationship and worship that Greeks all over the world have for Panagia (Virgin Mary), which we consider as the “Mother” of Greece. The holy monastery, which built in a picturesque natural environment, is an extraordinary destination for Greeks and Orthodoxs all over the world in general.

You will find Porta Panagias near Mouzaki in Thessaly, right across the small town of Pylis (Gate). The monastery is no longer active but you will admire the great architecture of its church.

St. Fotini church in Arcadia

Near the city of Tripoli, almost next to ancient Mantinea, the visitor encounters an original church, that of St. Fotini. The architecture and its materials, make this church unique as it blends elements of ancient Greek culture and Byzantine art. The building is a live example of the transition from the Twelve Gods of Ancient Greeks to Christianity.

Holy Monastery of Panagia Kremasti, Ilia (Virgin Mary)

The Monastery’s church has been built in a cave. Worshippers have to walk up a lot of stairs, in order to reach the Monastery, but the view from the church balkony will reward them. The Monastery is consecrated to Virgin Mary (Panagia) and celebrates on the 23rd Of August.

Virgin of the Rocks, Corinthia

The site is gorgeous, while the green color blends with the image of tall steep and sharp rocks on the trail. This special spectacle caused the place to be also known as «the Meteora of Corinth.» The church, built right on the rocks, is by itself a unique sight!
