Tripoli

In the heart of the Peloponnese, in the prefecture of Arcadia, Tripoli, the capital, stands proudly among the mountains, decorated by history and culture… The city was liberated from the Turks by Theodoros Kolokotronis, and in this memory an impressive statue of his adorns the central square. Visit the Cathedral, the church of Agios Vassilios, with its impressive architecture, the courthouse of the city as well as the archaeological and naval museum. Walk around in the city, you will enjoy the small and quiet streets. And at night, go ahead and join the locals at a walk at the Square, enjoying the mountain breeze!

Cave Kapsia

Cave Kapsia opened its doors to visitors only a few months ago. It is located in Arcadia, near the village Kapsia and Levidi. Experts have ranked it among the ten most remarkable caves throughout Greece. Remains of human bones have been found in the cave, and also lamps that are likely to belong to the 4th and 5th century AD. One of the most beautiful rooms of the cave is the hall called «admire», where the rare colors will amaze you ….

Sources of Ladonas River

Ladonas River is one of the oldest rivers in Greece. You will find it in Peloponnese. Its waters are shared between Achaia and Arcadia. The sources can be found near the village Likouria in the prefecture of Achaia. River Ladonas was described by Pausanias as the most beautiful river in Greece! It is therefore worthwhile to enjoy the beautiful sight of its sources …

Nymphasia Source

You will find it near Vitina in Arcadia. The source is referred to “travelers’ of Pausanias, written in 176 AD. It is therefore a historic place. The mythology wanted the nymphs to descend from the mountain Mainalo and get bathed in the waters of this spring, hence its name. Later, the locals said that the fairies used to bathe themselves to the specific source.

St. Fotini church in Arcadia

Near the city of Tripoli, almost next to ancient Mantinea, the visitor encounters an original church, that of St. Fotini. The architecture and its materials, make this church unique as it blends elements of ancient Greek culture and Byzantine art. The building is a live example of the transition from the Twelve Gods of Ancient Greeks to Christianity. The church was completed in 1978 and over the years has become one of the most famous sights of the area.

Lagadia is a divine mountain village of the Arcadia perfecture, in Peloponnese. It is literaly honged over a cliff and built by the famous lagadian craftsmen. The village is well known and has many visitors every year. The square of Lagadia is an ompressive balkony of nature, since you are able to indulge in reverie the prond arcadian mountains from there. Clean air, dew, even in the hotest days of summer, smiling and hospitable inhabitants and delicious local cuisine. A piece of advice: during a summer evening, sit at the village’s square and taste a custard – filled pastry (galaktoboureko) along with a greek coffee. That’s magic…

St. Theodora Church, Arcadia

The church is very close to village Vasta of Megalopolis. On the roof of the church the visitor can see 17 trees standing without demolishing the church, for centuries now. The church was built in 12 century and is visited by many faithful people from around the world. The area is beautiful, since beside the church runs a small river. The church itself, although very small in size, is very impressive, as it is plain with trees standing steadfast in its roof.

Menalo mountain

The prefecture of Arkadia is mountainous but also very beautiful. Mainalo mountain is an uncontradictable natural monument, where ancient Greeks thought that goddess Artemis and god god Panas live. Mainalo mountain constitutes an impressive mountainous area, with rich vegetation. It’s trees give specifically to the visitor the sense of return to nature… Villages around Mainalo have been touristically organised the last few years and except Vitina, which is the most known destination of the area, you will find some of the top hotels in Greece in the other villages of this region too. Finally, traditional food, good wine and famous Arkadian hospitality, will attract you from the first moment!
