Tzoumerka, Epirus, Greece!

For nature lovers, Tzoumerka is definitely the ultimate destination! The rivers, the forests, the trails into the mountain, create a magical picture in the eyes of the visitor! A set of small villages surrounded by canyons, ravines, rivers, forests and mountains with large cliffs, compose the unique picture of the region.

The rhythms of life here are relaxed! The residents are friendly and proud of their place, offering a genuine and noncommercial hospitality. The food has a different flavor, while the sleep is deep and relaxing!

I travelled to Tzoumerka a few days ago. I had never been to this magical place before, but now I am sure that it is a place I will not easily forget and for sure I will visit it many times in the future!

I stayed in the village Pramanta, at the guest house Xenion. This traditional and beautiful village, made me feel nice from the very first moment and think: Here it is another genuine and beautiful side of Greece, I had a long time to see!

Xenion guesthouse is a very special place, mainly because of George and Natasha. Two people who know how to make visitors feel at home from the first moment! The owner is the singer George Merantzas, who built Xenion fulfilling his lifelong dream to create "a hospitality house" as he said to us.

George knows personally the visitors, he cooks for them, he communicates the spirit of Tzoumerka and he becomes so familiar that you think you know him for years! Together with Natasha, a young girl who loves the place and Xenion, cook with great love for their guests and take care of everything! These two people made our stay in Xenion unique!

Although we stayed only for two days, we tried to explore the area and see as much as we could!

We visited the villages of Pramanta and Kalarytes. Kalarytes is a unique village, turning you back to time! I got excited by the architecture and the innocence of the few residents! If you happen to be there do not miss to enjoy a stroll through the narrow cobbled streets and remember how it is to live in nature!

If you love nature the area is really what you need! You can indulge in many activities such as hiking or rafting. If you are not adventurous, you can simply take your car and wander around, fill your eyes and soul with the green colours, the running water, the stone bridges and the dense forests!

We really enjoyed our weekend in Tzoumerka and we are looking forward to go back soon!
