Somedays spent in Rishikesh, walking along the banks of the Ganga was fantastic. the river, the mountains. Things to eat pankora, chai, gorblimey! India

Gorblimey! Eating and Pakoras!

I spent three or four days in Rishikesh last week. Walking along the banks of the Ganga was fantastic. The river, the mountains, the yoga teachers and the breeze. This is beautiful.

And then, the wonderful street food.

We drove up to the Neelkanth Temple, and after the temple, we sat the chai shop run by a friendly old local and had some chai and pakora.

We are getting out of the pakora season, really, in my view. Die-hard fans chomp on the stuff all through the year, but for me…. it is best had in winter. Or, during the rains, with the water dripping down the tin roof of the roadside shack.

Oh yeah, now that is when pakoras and chai taste the best!

I have been in the corporate world all my life, and have decided to take a sabbatical from this world. I am now a budding entrepreneur in my old age. This is wonderful because, apart from giving me the freedom to paint my own canvas, and to choose the canvas, it also gives me the time to do some of the things that I really like to do. These are, to travel, to photograph and to write. I still use a Nikon D 200. I started with B&W film, and this is something that I still love. The things that I am really grateful to the corporate world are, that I got the chance to travel the world, and meet lots of very interesting people. I have, over the years, become very interested in history, physics, culture, conservation, the environment and street food! I love landscapes, street photography, people, macro photography, geometrical shapes

I couldn't agree more. Part of the joy of travelling through India is the street food and the encounters found in the Chai shops and Dhabas. Makes my mouth water.
