Architectural genius – the Kyoto Station

I'm dawdling at my office here in Oranjezicht in Cape Town. It's gloomy weather and I'm trawling around airline specials looking to escape the winter here…Istanbul, Barcelona maybe? I should be writing up a new press release but my mind keeps wandering like Alice to that thing I'm obessesd with – travel – and does a throwback to a recent visit to Kyoto this past April. The train station in that city is something epic and beyond! It opened in 1997, commemorating Kyoto's 1,200th anniversary. It is 70 meters high and architecturally, it exhibits many characteristics of futurism, with a slightly irregular cubic façade of plate glass over a steel frame. The architect was Hiroshi Hara and I applaud him! I spent hours wandering around inside and hanging out on the Happy Terrace at the top. Have you seen it? Well look no further…..be inspired by this uber cool architecture!
