2011… 2014… Extraordinary Start to a New Year

The following excerpt is from a poem that I wrote over two years ago when I was an expat in South Korea. Although the original title is "2011," the gist of the poem applies to any year throughout anytime of the year. Hope you'll enjoy and take my message to heart. Blessings and Cheers to a phenomenal year!

A new year has come, another ended

can't believe I'm spending it in China

a place I've always wanted to venture

What an adventure this is for me, verily

This year is already starting off on the right foot

wildest dreams a reality right in front of me

How can this be?

Something deep down inside of me from long ago

has always wanted to fly high, soar, and be more

how I get overwhelmed with the range of possibilities

That are floating in the universe waiting to be gripped

What is stopping you…what is stopping me?

Let's shoot for the moon- it's within reach

nothing shall be impossible to them that

Believe and work with all might to achieve

Let's not waste another year of life content

with the same status and standard of life

settling for crumbs when the cake awaits

The cup when the ocean is at our disposal

I will not be afraid

I am fearless

I am open to the blessings of the divine power

that worketh in me, continually, exponentially, precisely

as it wills, enabling me to walk in my destiny…

Travel is not just what I do but it is who I am. When I first traveled abroad in high school as a foreign exchange student, little did I know that it would serve as the threshold of a lifetime interest in globetrotting. Now nearly 10 years later, I have lived in four countries and plan to do much more traveling in years to come. The world of teaching English has given me incredible opportunity to engage in cultural anthropology and I certainly can't get enough of the language learning process as a polyglot in the making. My personal website is currently under construction but I also maintain a micro-blog on facebook that enables me to share my insights and experiences with my ever-growing following. All in all, I am most proud to be known as a global citizen, a reference I accept with humility and honor. Blogging is rad! Many thanks (muchas gracias, feichang ganxie, grazie un millon, fala menogu) to KFTW for allowing me this platform to connect with the world and vice versa. St. Augustine said it best: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page."
