I love trying different foods in every country I visit. It gives me another great memory. Plus, lets be honest who DOESN'T love to eat?! 😉 So during my time in Spain I was able to try tapas. Tapas is a small dish of any kind of food that goes with your drink. It could be anything from olives, to bread with different dips.
HOW IT STARTED
Tapas began in an unusual way. When people were at bars and flies would get in their drinks, they started putting small dishes over the top of them to keep them out. Then after a while people started to put food in the dishes too. Now tapas dishes are colourful and so much fun to use for plating.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF TAPAS
Some of the different types of tapas that I have tried are olives, meat, small salads, goat cheese with walnuts and honey, potatoes. spinach and garbanzo beans, and more. There are just SO many kinds of tapas, and they are all delicious.
You can find tapas in most bars around Spain, it can be free with the purchase of a drink, like in Granada. And it can also be something you have to pay for. It is such a great thing to try in Spain. I took a tapas tour once where you were brought around to different local tapas bars that weren't just for tourists and it was incredible. You could learn the interesting history of the tapas bar, and mingle with locals.
Make sure that when you are in Spain to try the tapas, because it is well worth it.
