Best Free Family Activities in Las Vegas

Though Las Vegas has a reputation as America’s playground for adults, it can also be a great city to visit with the entire family. After all, the casino capital also hosts some of the best shows and spectacles in the US, and most of them are available to visitors for free!

So, if you want to take the kids with you to Sin City, get a great rate at one of the many budget hotels in Las Vegas and then check out this list of great family friendly activities.

Visit a Giant Tropical Aquarium

The Silverton Casino Hotel has a massive 117,000 gallon saltwater aquarium that houses over 4,000 species of brightly colored tropical fish. Stop by at any time with the kids to marvel at the beautiful fish on display or for the mermaid shows that take place every half hour at certain times from Thursday to Sunday.

Check Out the World’s Largest Circus

Did you know Las Vegas is home to the world’s largest permanent circus? Incredible shows full of jugglers, contortionists, trapeze artists, and clowns start at 11 a.m. daily at the Carnival Midway in the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino. Best of all, the show is completely free for visitors!

Get a Small Taste of Italy

Wander through the Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes with your children and marvel at the small taste of Venice the casino offers in the form of clothing stores, gelato shops, delicious Italian eateries, and even a small canal. There are also many performers on site to entertain visitors, ranging from singers to living statues.

Enjoy the Lake of Dreams

Make a dinner reservation in one of the top-rated restaurants of the Wynn Hotel that surround the Lake of Dreams, and spend the evening with a fulfilling, delicious meal while watching the wonderful shows that take place on the lake. There are magical nightly shows featuring music, water, lights, and other special effects.

Watch the Fall of Atlantis

Caesar’s Palace is home to another large saltwater aquarium in Las Vegas, but it provides the extra bonus of a spectacular show in addition to the species on display. Behind the aquarium is a giant fountain with animatronic figures, and every hour the casino puts on an amazing show called the “Fall of Atlantis,” which uses the figures and fountains to tell the legend of the mythical city.

Visit the Birds of The Flamingo

The Flamingo Hotel lives up to its name by hosting a 15-acre Wildlife Habitat which plenty of bird species call home; of course it also includes some Chilean flamingoes. Brightly colored parrots, beautiful hummingbirds, and large pelicans can also be found throughout the habitat. Families can visit the habitat from 8 a.m. until sunset, and you can see pelican feedings at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Las Vegas is not just an adults-only attraction; there are plenty of experiences and shows for children of all ages, and best of all, many of these activities are completely free!
