Mount Bohemia and Fall Foliage

Fall is my favourite time of the year. I love the smell of the falling leaves and the vivid colours. Nothing beats a sunny fall day. For many people fall is just the end of summer and sunlight. For me it has always been a time of new beginnings.

The brisky fall wind has usually been a wind of change in my life. That’s when school always starts when you’re a kid. Later on it was fall when I started my studies at the University of Helsinki, it was fall when I travelled to South America for three months, it was fall when I started my exchange programme in Ireland and now it’s fall again and this time I moved to Michigan for six months for an internship.

Fall is really beautiful here in Upper Peninsula, Michigan. Fall foliage paints the trees in bright shades of yellow and red. And thanks to the hills and mountains you can get a great view of the trees.

Today I went to Mount Bohemia for a fall colour lift ride. In the winter the mountain is filled with skiers. But for two weekends in October you can ride the ski lifts up the mountain and see the fall foliage in all its glory.

The ride cost 8$ and it was worth it. The scenery at the top was amazing. I

recommend taking this ride if you’re in the Upper Peninsula in October.

Before heading back home we made a stop at Copper Harbor for some shopping. My favourite was the Thimbleberry Shop thanks to their homemade fudge. Plenty of flavours to choose from. I tried the mint chocolate, thimbleberry chocolate and maple bacon flavours.
