Botswana young chefs cooking up some fun

“I’m Gobonaone Modisane, manager of Young Chefs Academy, a school where we teach kids from 4 to 18 the basic skills of cooking.

We have a kinder chefs class (4 to 6 years old), a junior chefs class (7 to 14), and a senior chefs class (15 to 18).

We love cooking with the kids and we really love what we do.

Our classes begin in the afternoon because the kids are at school during the day. All the kids, ten per class, are part of the class and enjoy the interaction in a fun field activity.

Young Chefs Academy is an American franchise, more specifically from Texas. It was founded by two wonderful ladies who love and enjoy cooking and it was first open here in Botswana in May 2010

“I’m Tracy, teacher of the kinder cooks. When we make a recipe, we read it together first and then bring out all of the ingredients. Each child is given a particular ingredient to measure. After that we put the recipe together and, once it’s ready, we eat what we prepared together.”

Young Chefs Academy also offers summer camps, groups for homeschooled children, play groups and birthday parties.”
