“I’m Fahima, and I’m from Bangladesh. I’m the platoon commander of the Bangladesh Female Peacekeeper Unit.
We have been in Haiti since the earthquake for a peacekeeping mission under the authority of the United Nations. We are a total number of 160 and our work is to patrol the refugee camps. We protect the women and the children from any sort of violence.
In our country, it is an honor for women to do this job. Both our prime minister and opposition leader are women, and they really encourage us to do this job”.
“My name is Beauty, I’m part of this platoon. Our job is very challenging and we feel empowered for what we do.
I spend my free time in the prayer room, the reading room, and the gymnasium. We pray to Allah that our mission will be very successful and bring lots of happiness to the people in our country”.
