Valle Brembana: a land that forges body and soul

“From the peak of the Pizzo del Diavolo you can walk to the largest of the four springs that feed the Brembo River. This waterway crosses the Brembana Valley, a land of ancient and unique traditions.

The character of the people that live here has been forged through a shared history of hard work.

The people of the Brembana Valley are stubbornly attached to their land: they are proud of living in a place that forges body and soul.

With sweat on their brow, strength in their arms and passion for their work, they honour their land by preserving that which they hold most dear: their origins.

The Brembana Valley: wild and untouched nature, jagged peaks and clear water springs gave a backdrop to some exciting encounters.

Gugliemo, 84 years old, has spent his life raising cows to produce cheese. Today, together with his children and grandchildren, he still produces Strachitund, an excellent mountain cheese.

Michele forges works of art using a material of which his land is rich: iron.

Franco started cooking when he was 13. Today with great passion serves exclusively local dishes in his tavern.

Gianfranco is a chemist who cultivates medicinal plants to be used in cosmetics and homeopathic medicines.

Rossana and Sergio are a hippy couple who express their creativity by making high quality wooden puppets.

And Pietro, whose quarry and team of stone breakers provide houses the world over with slate.

Valle Brembana: a land that excites, encounters that leave their mark“.
