“I’m Cynthia. I own a restaurant on Winnifred Beach where I serve traditional Jamaican dishes such as rice with peas and coconut, grilled chicken with jerk sauce, and Festivals, which are made of fried batter.
Winnifred Beach Is a beautiful public beach. We residents are the ones who take care of this oasis and keep it clean.
There are several kiosks and restaurants. My friend Blacky has a restaurant and he serves the best rice with pumpkin and corn soup, flavored with thyme, lemon, and several spices.
The beach is open both to local people and tourists, and everyone has lots of fun.
The Jamaican government though, would like to sell the beach and build a luxury resort in its place. Everyone is against it because the beach is a source of profits for many local native people: some with their own restaurants, lovely huts made of wood and thatch, and some others with their stalls.
The government wants to wipe everything off so we’re making people sign a petition against the privatization of the beach.
