Yousef: the work of a lifetime

“I’m Yousef, owner of the Shaban family ranch, a very big ranch on the hills of Palestine.

I started cultivating land when I was a little kid, working at the ranch with my father and brothers. After our father died, my brothers and I got married and each one of us got a piece of the land to cherish and cultivate.

Owning a small piece of land, I started to buy neighboring land and planted citrus trees, olive trees, almond trees, peaches, apples, figs and cherries.

A few years later I also built a small cattle farm.

Now I have about ten workers who help me at the ranch. At the end of the ranch there is a big pool of spring water that we use for irrigation, and even for fishing.

I’ve been living here for more than thirty years. I lived here with my first wife for many years, and together we had six boys and three girls. Now they’re all grown up, married, and they all have a house and successful jobs. My wife died many years ago.

Now I live here with my second wife. We don’t have any kids but we are happy”.
