“My name is Alberto and I’m a South Central Farmer in Los Angeles. We’re about 15 families who work at a farm in Bakersfield.
In 1992 we started a 14 acres farm in Los Angeles, in the South Central area. It was one of the largest farms in the United States and hosted about 250 families that grew food locally and organically.
After 14 years we were evicted from our land because of political reasons. Now the land is up for sale again so we want to buy it.
Today the main mission of our organization is to promote urban agriculture and healthy organic food to all Angelinos.
We host cooking demonstrations, promote seasonal diets and encourage people to buy locally.
For our ‘CSA’ program we sell boxes for 15$ each and pack them with the vegetables we grow in season”.
