“I’m Cameron McCabe and I’m a waitress at the Ellen’s Stardust Diner, the only restaurant with a singing waitstaff: we sing Fifties, Broadway, and more recent songs.
On the windows all around the restaurant you can see the profiles of all the Miss Subways, a tradition in NYC in the Fifties. The name of our diner comes from a Miss Subways called Ellen Hart.
Hanging on the walls we have movie posters, records and vinyls from the Fifties.
Part of the restaurant is in an old train car, and there’s another one we like to call Drive-In. The waitstaff is really special.
We look at Ellen’s as a jumping off point. We have dreams of being on Broadway, become singers, dancers, and performers. Some of us have already been in Broadway shows. Here I can sing all day long and work”.
